Devin Haney is worried about receiving credit from fans and the media after he’s victorious against Ryan Garcia on Saturday night in their headliner on DAZN PPV.

Weight Drain Taking a Toll

He looked drained today, and it’s got to get a lot worse before tomorrow. Haney will look like a walking corpse by tomorrow, draining down to a human skeleton.

Compared to Haney’s last fight, he doesn’t look nearly as drained in appearance, and that could mean that he won’t rehydrate to the mid-160s. If Haney is weakened from weight the weight that he takes off and puts back on, we could see him wear down.

Fighters can only drain 20+ lbs a certain amount of times before it catches up to them, and they get beaten. Haney is putting his health on the line by draining so much weight to compete in a weight class that he should not be fighting at.

Even at 147 is too light. When a fighter rehydrates to 165, like Haney, they should be competing at 154.

Ryan (24-1, 20 KOs) was his usual self today, having fun with the media and roasting Haney (31-0, 15 KOs) into oblivion. He was the only one who made today’s press conference entertaining.

Ryan brought flavor to the press conference. Yeah, Ryan is over the top with some of the stuff he said today, but he made things interesting.

Haney was taking the high road, choosing not to get in the mud with Ryan to go full trash-mouthed mode. It was a tactical move on Haney’s part to play the good guy role and let Ryan be the villain.

Concerns Over Garcia’s Behavior

“Something is wrong with him. I don’t know what’s going on, but that s*** is not normal.” said WBC light welterweight champion Devin Haney to the media, reacting to Ryan Garcia going 100% nuts during today’s final press conference in New York.

“I want my credit [afterward] because it’s the work I’ve put in to get to this stage,” Haney continued, worried that he might not receive full credit for a victory with Ryan acting odd.

“I did everything I was supposed to do in this camp to be the best I can. We bet $500,000 per pound. Let’s see if he makes weight. I would hate for them to discredit me. I see it being an early night. I don’t see Ryan being able to go the full 12 with me.

Fears of a Garcia Meltdown

Devin Haney is predicting a stoppage win, but the real concern is whether Ryan will come apart before the fight starts. Ryan losing his marbles will be interesting to watch, but hopefully, he doesn’t do anything the fight from pressing ahead.
