Tyson Fury unleashed a filthy, expletive-filled rant at the end of Friday’s weigh-in when asked for his final words for his fight against Oleksandr Usyk on Saturday in Riyadh.

It looked like Fury completely forgot that he was in a public setting and chose to go unfiltered. It’s going to be interesting to hear what Fury says after the fight if loses to Usyk on Saturday.

A Look of Anguish: Fury’s Venom Leaves a Mark

The girl interviewing WBC heavyweight champion Fury looked stunned. She was the one that was tasked with the job of putting the microphone in front of Fury’s gob, having to listen to him spit curse words into the microphone toward his foe, IBF/WBA/WBO heavyweight champion Usyk. Someone needed to put a muzzle on Fury at the moment to get him to pipe down.

It was disturbing to watch the interviewer’s look of anguish. She clearly wasn’t prepared for Fury’s spitting cobra-like remarks. Thankfully, Fury backed off after unleashing his torrent of abuse, with a smug look on his face that read, ‘Job well done.’ It was all she could do to try and maintain her composure while Fury was spitting his venom.

Fury’s Tirade: A Classic Defense Mechanism

“I’m coming for his heart, f*** his belts, I’m coming for his f***ing heart. F*** him, and your whole team can get it to,” said Tyson Fury when asked to give his final words for Oleksandr Usyk during today’s weigh-in.

I guess Fury figured had to overreact after the way he’d looked cowardly the day before, refusing to face Usyk during their face-off at the final press conference. Today’s reaction was a classic example of a person compensating for their feelings of inadequacy.

It’s pretty obvious that Fury is afraid of Usk, and has been from day one. When someone that is fearful of another person, you get this kind of thing. They show false bravado to hide the fear they have inside, trying to bluff.

It’s a classic defense mechanism that people use to appear intimidating to threatening predators. We see that kind of behavior with frogs, spiders, birds, and now Fury. Oh well, I guess you’ve got to try something.
