Count Michel Rivera among those who thought Arnold Barboza lost his fight on April 20 against Sean McComb.
Barboza pulled out a split decision against McComb on the undercard of the Devin Haney-Ryan Garcia pay-per-view in a close fight. The final scores were 97-93 and 96-94 for Barboza while one judge saw a completely different fight, scoring it 98-92 for McComb.
After the fight Barboza, 30-0 (11 KOs), admitted to BoxingScene that the fight was close but felt he did enough to earn the victory.
Rivera disagrees.
“Christmas came very early for Barboza,” Rivera said with a chuckle. “He clearly lost that fight to McComb and the whole world saw it.”
Rivera, who recently signed with Salita Promotions, is looking to return to the ring soon and would be more than happy to face Barboza.
“Whenever he wants it, I will be ready for him. I am the better and more versatile fighter and would take away his ‘0’. Let’s see if he accepts my challenge,” Rivera, 25-1 (14 KOs), told BoxingScene.
Rivera was last in action in November when he defeated former champion Sergey Lipinets via unanimous decision.
