May 17, Nykobing Falster, Denmark:
RngSde Promotions returned to Nykobing Falster for a show billed as “The Return” with local hero, heavyweight Kem Ljungquist (18-0) topping the bill against Tanzanian-Swede Awadh Tamim (billed by BoxRec as 16-10) in a scheduled eight-rounder.
Ljungquist had to work hard but eventually floored Tamim twice in the seventh and it was stopped at 2:53. Tamim covered up well and was dangerous with his heavy right hand but the Dane, a southpaw, was a little too sharp for the Tanzanian veteran. Ljungquist won every round in a workmanlike performance and is now ready for bigger and better fights. He has been mentioned as a possible opponent for a number of name heavyweights.
Heavyweight Gustav Thorsen (3-0) knocked out Hungarian veteran Andres Csomor (18-39-2) in the second round and looked good in taking his experienced opponent apart. Csomor didn’t try too hard though and made sure he stayed down until “10 and out” was called. Csomor’s last win dates back to 2016. He was a late sub.
Reigning Danish featherweight champ Ahmad Chauki El Ahmad (5-0) impressed in beating Ukrainian Rafail Melnyk (3-7) but could never hurt his opponent in their fast-paced four rounder. It was scored 40-36 on all cards.
Danish lightweight prospect Elias Idrissi (4-0) stopped Georgian journeyman Irakli Shariashvili (9-15-1) in the fourth and final round. Shariashvili had three points deducted for holding, was floored once and was in it to survive while Idrissi was too eager and it made for a messy fight.
In the show opener Swedish welter Mohammed Al-Maliki (1-1) outscored Moldovan super welter Ion Catarau (1-3) over four. It was scored 40-36 on all cards after a tough fight where Catarau’s weight and strength told in the last two rounds. He came in well over the agreed weight and refused to take it off.
