Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury gave their predictable support for their teams in today’s Queensberry vs. Matchroom 5v5 event in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
Former two-time heavyweight champion Joshua is pulling for Eddie Hearn’s Matchroom Boxing team to do the job against Queensberry in the clash on DAZN PPV.
This is an event that is pretty well-matched. Some fights are virtual locks for Matchroom, whereas others are clearly mismatches in favor of Queensberry.
I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s 2-2 with 1 draw after it’s over, but I don’t see it as a 5-0 sweep for either team because there are some guys in this card that are hopeless, starting with the main event.
Joshua Pushing for Team Matchroom
“5v5, Matchroom vs. Queensberry, I think this is the first time in history something’s happening like this,” Joshua said on X. “I’m Team Matchroom, of course. F—k up them Queensberry Boys!”
It’s too bad Joshua couldn’t be a part of this card because that would have livened things up. Instead of Filip Hrgovic fighting Daniel Dubois, we could see the 2016 Olympic bronze medalist taking on AJ with the IBF interim title on the line for the fight. That would have been the better idea.
I see these as the winnable fights for Matchroom’s team today:
1. Filip Hrgovic vs. Daniel Dubois
2. Raymond Ford vs. Nick Ball
3. Craig Richards vs. Willy Hutchinson
Queensberry’s likely two winners:
1. Hamzah Sheeraz vs. Austin ‘Ammo’ Williams
2. Zhilei Zhang vs. Deontay Wilder

Wilder (43-3-1, 42 KOs) is over his head in the main event on this card, going up against Zhang (26-2-1, 21 KOs) in a 12-round match. I don’t think it’s a great fight for Wilder because he looked something awful in his recent loss to Joseph Parker, and he’s chinny.
I don’t see it ending well for the 38-year-old Deontay. He’ll last as long the southpaw Zhang doesn’t throw. Once Zhang lets his hands go, I see this fight ending with the slender 214 lb Wilder down and needing to be peeled off the canvas.
