LAS VEGAS – Gervonta Davis scored a sensational eighth-round knockout of Frank Martin at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas on Saturday.
Martin was competitive early on, but Davis started to take over, began to measure Martin and then clinically knocked him out. Referee Harvey Dock instantly waved it off.
Davis retained his WBA lightweight title with a sizzling left hand and is now 30-0 (28 KOs). Martin lost for the first time and is now 18-1 (12 KOs).
The end came at 1:29 of the eighth session.
