Lightweight Sean Garcia, younger brother of Ryan Garcia, has set his sights on toppling the Vargas Dynasty by defeating Amado Vargas, son of Fernando Vargas Sr.

The two fighters are slated to face off on Saturday as part of a pay-per-view event headlined by MMA icons Nate Diaz and Jorge Masvidal in a 10-round boxing affair.

Garcia (7-0-1, 3 KOs), 23, and Vargas (10-0, 4 KOs), also 23, have a shared history from their amateur days. Despite prior clashes, the fighters find themselves overshadowed by their more famous relatives, with Garcia in the shadow of his superstar brother and Vargas fighting under the weight of his father’s legacy and the prominence of his siblings.

“I’m here to end the Vargas dynasty,” declared Garcia. “I’m here to fight and I’m here to knock him out.”

The intrigue surrounding this bout extends beyond their familial rivalries, as neither fighter has yet secured a significant victory. Garcia drew against Seung Ho Yang in 2022, while Vargas has been in close fights that judges scored wide. This matchup marks their first test against an opponent of similar professional caliber.

“He’s a good fighter, but I’m going to show the world how great I am,” asserted Vargas. “He’ll fade in the later rounds; he’s not in shape like I am.”

Vargas even provocatively claimed he would “bring the bitch” out of Garcia, prompting a swift response from the determined lightweight.

“Their team talks bullshit, and I’m speaking the truth,” retorted Garcia.

Undeterred, Vargas urged fans to witness his performance, and said, “Get your tickets to see this ass-whooping; I’m going to stop this dude.”

Garcia, unswayed by Vargas’ words, responded with a confident, “No, you’re not,” igniting a heated exchange over their respective fight records and physical condition ahead of Friday’s weigh-in.

“Fuck the dynasty, I’m here to fight,” Garcia said. “I’m here to knock his ass out and end the dynasty. I promise you that.”
