Isaac ‘Pitbull’ Cruz predicts his fight against Jose ‘Rayo’ Valenzuela will be the “fight of the night” on August 3rd at the BMO Stadium in Los Angeles. The fight will be shown on DAZN and ESPN+ PPV as part of a massive event by Riyadh Season.

Valenzuela has the power to potentially end the fight with the 5’4″ Cruz at a moment’s notice if he can land one of his big shots. In ‘Rayo’ Valenzuela’s last fight, he destroyed Chris Colbert by a sixth-round knockout in their rematch on December 16th.

The knockout shot that Rayo landed in that fight was brutal. If he connects with that same punch against ‘Pitbull’ Cruz, it’ll be fight-over on August 3rd.

Pitbull vs. Rayo will be fighting on the undercard of Terence Crawford vs. Israil Madrimov.

Cruz (26-2-1, 18 KOs) is making his first WBA light welterweight title defense and wants to impress by scoring a knockout of ‘Rayo’ Valenzuela (13-2, 9 KOs).

Isaac ‘Pitbull’ Cruz: “It filled me with emotion [becoming world champion],” said Cruz to DAZN Boxing about his 8th round TKO win over WBA light welterweight champion Rolando ‘Rolly’ Romero on March 30th.

“We made it clear we’re ready for the big names and to face and beat anyone they put in front of us. Jose Valenzuela is rangy who also likes to come forward, and our fight will be the best of the night.

Jose ‘Rayo’ Valenzuela: “This is a dream come true. This is what I’ve dreamed of my whole life. It feels even better fighting against a tough fighter like Pitbull Cruz, whom everybody loves and respects. I think he’s a hell of a fighter. He’s tough, has a lot of heart, and is a traditional Mexican fighter. You’re only going to get one thing, and that’s fireworks. That’s guaranteed.

“This fight is for the fans. It’s a big responsibility for me and for him. Both of us being Mexicans, we have to set the standards real high. I think I have what it takes to bet Isaac Cruz. And the new.”

Other fights on the August 3rd undercard:

  • Jared Anderson vs. Martin Bakole
  • Andy Cruz vs. Antonio Moran
  • David Morrell vs. Radivoje “Hot Rod” Kalajdzic
  • Andy Ruiz Jr. vs. Jarrell Miller
