Superstar Canelo Alvarez says his career would have gone better had he inked with Al Haymon’s PBC rather than Golden Boy Promotions.

Had Canelo signed with PBC, he would have fought guys like Jermall Charlo and David Benavidez. Those are the top names for those guys around Canelo’s weight class. It’s unlikely that Canelo would have been better off fighting for PBC than Golden Boy unless he was keen on fighting Jermall or the light heavyweight-sized Benavidez.

Since PBC was founded in 2015, it would have been physically impossible for Canelo to have been with them from the start of his career in 2004.

Golden Boy’s Lineup

He signed with Golden Boy Promotions in 2010 and fought these popular fighters:

– Gennadiy Golovkin x 2
– Shane Mosley
– Miguel Cotto
– Floyd Mayweather
– Austin Trout
– Amir Khan
– Sergey Kovalev
– Daniel Jacobs

Whether PBC could have provided those same names for Canelo to fight from 2015 to 2024 is unknown. If not, Canelo might have been limited to the fighters PBC manages:

– David Benavidez
– Demetrius Andrade
– Anthony Dirrell
– Carlos Adames
– Terence Crawford
– Marcus Browne

“I think I would’ve done better with PBC, way better. I did good things with Golden Boy and I’m not mad with that, but I think it would have been better with PBC,” said Canelo to the Million Dollars Worth of Game YouTube channel.

Canelo’s career would look much different if he’d been with PBC from the start than it is now, but I’m not sure if it would be better.
