For AJ, this fight will provide him with the opportunity to become a 3-time heavyweight champion, which would put him in very exclusive company. To date there have only been four 3-time heavyweight champions in history, and those include a trio of legendary all time greats in Muhammad Ali, Evander Holyfield, and Lennox Lewis. Can Anthony Joshua become the fourth?

Joshua won his first championship back in 2016 when he defeated Charles Martin to win the IBF belt. He later added the WBA and WBO belts to his collection. Joshua would go on to lose his unified championship in a shocking upset at the hands of Andy Ruiz Jr. AJ won his unified championship back in his very next fight when he avenged that loss in dominant lopsided fashion. But after making just a single defense in his second reign, AJ lost back to back fights against the reigning lineal world heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk, the first fight being when AJ lost his crown for the second time. Interestingly enough, Dubois and AJ are competing for the IBF title, and Usyk has beaten both of them, going a combined 3-0 in those fights. Usyk vacated the IBF belt back in June, and this will be the first title defense for Dubois, and a huge opportunity for Anthony Joshua.

Will Anthony Joshua become a three-time heavyweight champion against Daniel Dubois?

This edition of Rummy’s Corner will attempt to answer that question and also explore both the historical and practical implications should Joshua become the fourth boxer in history to become a 3-time heavyweight champion. Please watch and enjoy the video for one man’s opinion. This is Rummy’s Corner (produced and narrated by Geoffrey Ciani).
