A leaked video of an old sparring session between Ryan Garcia and Devin Haney was uploaded on social media. It shows Garcia working out Haney and dominating him in the same manner as he did last April. The only difference is that Haney wore headgear, which may have saved him during this session.

The video shows that Garcia repeatedly lights up Haney with his left hook KO punch, forcing him to hold on like a Sea Lamprey. Haney looked in distress during the one-sided sparring with Ryan, getting hammered and lacking the power to keep the stronger fighter off.

That’s exactly how their fight last April played out, but the only difference was Ryan watching Haney with left hooks in close when he was reaching to hold.

The video shows that the powerful left-hook KO artist Ryan Garcia’s victory over Haney (31-0, 15 KOs) wasn’t because he had Ostarine in his system for their fight on April 20th at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.

Ryan is a better fighter, with more speed, power, and ability in the professional ranks than Haney. The two split their six fights in the amateur ranks at 3-3, but it’s a different story in the pros. Ryan has put on size, and his left hook smash, coupled with his hand speed, was pure kryptonite to Haney.

It might not be worth it for the promoters to bother putting together a rematch between Garcia and Haney in 2025. The sparring video clip shows that Ryan is on another level than Haney, and will beat him just as badlt in the rematch than the first fight.

It might be worse for Haney because he was arguably saved from a knockout last time by the referee, who inexplicably stopped the action in round seven to take a point off from Garcia for hitting on the break.

Garcia had not been given a warning before the realization. The referee should have been warning Haney for nonstop holding in the seventh round after he’d been knocked down and badly hurt by Kingry.

Haney plans on returning to the ring in December for what many expect will be a confidence-booster to regroup mentally from his 12-round decision loss against Garcia.

There’s been no mention of who Haney will be fighting, but it’s expected a weak puncher, possibly someone pulled up from the 135 or 140-lb division to face him at welterweight.
