Seniesa Estrada ends her career 26-0 (9 KO)
Seven months after scoring the biggest win of her 12-year professional career, undisputed minimumweight champion Seniesa Estrada has announced her retirement from the sport at age 32.
Estrada picked up her first title, the WBA interim light flyweight belt, in 2019 with a wide technical decision over former Olympian Marlen Esparza. She followed that up with a knockout of Miranda Adkins in one of women’s boxing’s most infamous mismatches, then dropped from 108 to 105 to dominate Anabel Ortiz for the WBA minimuweight title.
After one last win at 108, a decision over Tenkai Tsunami to claim the WBO belt, Estrada moved full-time to minimumweight and soon began her quest for unification by beating WBC champ Tina Rupprecht. A year later, she squared off with IBF/WBO titlist Yokasta Valle and took home a hard-fought unanimous decision to compete her collection.
“Superbad” likely had what it took to return to 108 and clean house, but we should always laud those willing to walk away on top and it’s harder to be more “on top” than this. Safe travels, champ.
