Lightweight Floyd Schofield and Rene Tellez Giron are set for Saturday’s 12-round bout at The Theater at Virgin Hotels in Las Vegas. The fight, airing on DAZN, was made official as both fighters weighed in at 134.4lbs.

Schofield, 22, from Austin, Texas, will make his second fight of the year after a March win over Esteuri Suero by disqualification in a foul-heavy contest. A summer fight with Ashton Sylve fell through when the Jake Paul-Mike Tyson event was postponed. Schofield, with a 17-0 (12 KOs) record, is eager to establish himself as a top contender.

Giron, 25, from Mexico, gained recognition with a knockout of Karlos Balderas following a loss to Michel Rivera. Though he appeared on Top Rank cards, he missed weight against Giovani Cabrera, who defeated him by unanimous decision. In the past 11 months, Giron, 20-3 (13 KOs), has rebuilt momentum with three consecutive wins, including victories over George Acosta and Alex Dilmaghani. Giron represents, on paper, Schofield’s toughest challenge to date.

The co-feature pits super middleweights Bektemir Melikuziev and David Stevens, both 14-1 (10 KOs), against each other. Melikuziev, 28, from Shoimbek, Uzbekistan, and now based in Indio, California, weighed 170.0lbs. Stevens weighed in at 167.4lbs and is the only fighter eligible to win the secondary title. Melikuziev has won seven straight since his knockout loss to Gabriel Rosado, while Stevens has secured one victory since being stopped by Joeshon James in the first round of a fight a year ago.

The flyweight undisputed title fight was made official as IBF titleholder Gabriela Fundora will face WBA, WBO and WBC titlist Gabriela Celeste Alaniz with all four belts on the line. The 22-year-old Fundora, 14-0 (6 KOs), from Coachella, California, will be seeking to become the youngest undisputed champion. The 5ft 9ins Fundora weighed in at 111.0lbs, while the 5ft 3ins Alaniz, 28, of Argentina, came in at 110.4lbs. Alaniz, 15-1 (6 KOs), avenged her sole defeat with an April split decision win over Marlen Esparza.
