Shakur Stevenson has described the much-anticipated slugfest between Terence “Bud” Crawford and Jaron “Boots” Ennis as the fight he doesn’t want to see happen.

Crawford, 37, has yet to announce his next opponent after snatching Israil Madrimov’s WBA junior middleweight title in August. Crawford, of Omaha, Nebraska, could return next year and has continuously been called out by nemesis Ennis, who is weighing his options to move up to 154 pounds.

But Stevenson thinks the fight should not take place.

“I mean, I don’t wanna ever see the fight,” Stevenson told iFV TV. “I think that is just two different eras, two different times. I know they’re here at the same time, but I think that Bud is at the tail end.

“He’s probably got maybe one or two more fights in him, and it ain’t one of the fights I wanna see. I would rather see him fight ‘Canelo’ Alvarez.”

Crawford, a two-time undisputed champion, continues to call out super middleweight superstar Alvarez in what could be the final bell of his bright career.

Although Alvarez has yet to agree to Crawford’s challenge, Stevenson believes that a matchup between the two would deliver an outcome many consider to be out of Crawford’s reach.

“I think Bud will outbox Canelo and shock the world again,” he said. “That’s something that I know can happen, so everyone should wait and see.”
