Brownsville, Brooklyn, New York is known for producing elite boxing talent, and in addition to Mike Tyson, Brownsville native Bruce “Shu Shu” Carrington will be in action on the Paul vs Tyson undercard as he takes on Dana Coolwell (13-2, 8 KOs) on Friday night at the AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, live on Netflix.
The Carrington vs Coolwell clash was added to the Jake Paul vs Mike Tyson event back in early October. Bruce Carrington is a rising contender who wants to showcase his skills under the bright lights, while his opponent, Dana Coolwell, plans on making a memorable debut in the United States by scoring a huge upset.
A native of Nambour, Queensland, Australia, Dana Coolwell made his pro debut back in March 2019 when he defeated Salvatore Signorino via 3rd round TKO. After winning his next five bouts, Coolwell lost to Jake Wyllie by way of a split decision.
After bouncing back and picking up a win, Coolwell lost to Ender Luces back in April 2022 via a split decision. Coolwell would regroup and proceed to go on a six-fight win streak. Now, Dana Coolwell is on the verge of participating in what he considers to be a life-changing bout.
His opponent, Bruce Carrington, is a featherweight contender who will be entering the ring for the fourth time this year. Back in February 2024, Shu Shu Carrington delivered a knockout of the year candidate when he hit Bernard Torres with a hard right hand that caused Torres to fall face down to the canvas.
Four months later, Carrington stopped Brayan De Gracia in the 8th round. In his next bout, Shu Shu faced the most difficult opponent of his career to date. In a technical back-and-forth type of brawl, Shu Shu Carrington earned a majority decision victory over Sulaiman Segawa with scores of 95-95, 97-93, and 97-93.
