Daniel Dubois has called out Jake Paul for a free title shot for his IBF heavyweight belt. This would be a huge fight if the International Boxing Federation were to sanction it for their belt.
If it does happen, it would be excellent publicity for Dubois (22-2, 21 KOs), the promotional company he works for, and, of course, Jake. Most Valuable Promotions revealed the callout from Dubois to Jake on social media today, and it’s created a lot of fan interest in this matchup.
Fans Giving Dubois Grief
Dubois is receiving a lot of gruff from fans on social media for calling out Jake Paul, but it’s a smart career move for him. Jake is perhaps the #2 star in boxing right now, possibly even #1, and the money that Dubois could make fighting him would be enormous.
The fight would make Dubois a bigger star, and he could take advantage of the popularity of fights against Anthony Joshua, Tyson Fury, and Oleksandr Usyk.
If the IBF gives the green light to the Jake-Dubois title match, it would be up to Jake (11-1, 7 KOs) if he wants to go through with it because it’s a big step up from the kind of opposition that he’s been fighting during his four-year career.
Last Friday, November 15, Jake defeated former heavyweight champion Mike Tyson unanimously in the eighth round in front of a crowd of over 70,000 at the AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas. The former heavyweight champion Tyson, 58, was no match for Paul’s youth, but he tried, and it was interesting to watch to see if he could land one of his big shots to bail him out.
Paul vs. Tyson Punch Stats
– Jake: 78 of 278 shots for a 28% connect rate
– Tyson: 18 of 97 punches for an 18.5% percentage
Dubois (22-2, 21 KOs) is coming off a career-best fifth-round knockout win over former two-time heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua on September 21st.
Fighting Jake Paul might even be a bigger fight worldwide for the 27-year-old Dubois because the young influencer has a colossal following on social media and is a far better marketer for his fights than Joshua, who can barely talk.
