Conor Benn is in negotiations for a fight against middleweight contender Chris Eubank Jr for February in what promoter Ben Shalom says could sell out a stadium in the UK.
Benn (23-0, 14 KOs) hasn’t fully decided whether to fight Eubank Jr. (34-3, 25 KOs) or challenge WBC welterweight champion Mario Barrios. Ultimately, the money that Benn, 28, will be offered for a fight against Eubank Jr. will be the deciding factor to steer him in that direction.
“It’s one of the biggest British domestic fights in history. I don’t think two fathers and two sons have ever fought [like this]. It’s about history. It’s about legacy,” said Conor Benn to Sky Sports about a fight between him and Chris Eubank Jr.
It’s hard to imagine a fight between Eubank Jr. and Benn is one of the “biggest British domestic fights” ever because neither fighter has done anything in their careers to give the fight such weight. If the bar is low, it could be a good dust-up.
Benn hasn’t fought in the UK for two years since 2022 after testing positive for a banned substance. He’s now been cleared to fight, but much of the interest is now gone from fans.
