Errol Spence emerged from his 17-month hibernation today to briefly shut down rumors that he was training for a ring return.
One of Spence’s fans (28-1, 22 KOs) had created a movie-like perfect comeback scenario for him, with him training for a fight against junior middleweight champion Sebastian Fundora and rematching Terence ‘Bud’ Crawford in a “real war.” This is a classic example of hero worship run amok.
Spence told the person that he was “dreaming” and had not heard from anyone “in months.” That wasn’t good. It sounds like PBC has nothing for Spence, so he will sit and age without any fights. Perhaps it’s for the best.
With the way former unified welterweight champion Spence performed against Crawford last year on July 9th, he’d be facing the guillotine in a rematch or against Fundora.
Spence turns 35 on March 3rd, and it’s becoming increasingly clear that he’s never returning. If Errol does come back, it won’t end well for him because he looks null & void.
That 2019 car crash wrecked more than Spence’s $320,000 Ferrari 488 Spider. It ruined him.
