Teofimo Lopez came out of the woodwork today, claiming that “reasonable offers” were sent to Devin Haney and George Kambosos Jr, both of which “declined” them.

Teofimo Claims

Lopez (21-1, 13 KOs), who holds the WBO light welterweight title, didn’t reveal the offers, but they were likely the lowball variety. There’s NO way on earth that the little ‘Emperor’ Kambosos (21-3, 10 KOs) would reject an offer if it were “reasonable.”

Kambosos has already beaten Teofimo like a drum once, and beating him again would give him a new start, a fresh beginning. With three Defeats in his last four fights, Kambosos needs a pick-me-up right now, and he’s not about to say no to any offers from Teofimo if it were a serious one.

Teofimo, 27, has looked like the shell of the fighter he once was since his best-career win over Vasily Lomachenko in 2020. That fight took the best out of Teo, leaving the muddled, babbling fighter that we saw lose to Kambosos in 2021, and given highly controversial wins over Sandor Martin and Jamaine Ortiz.

It’s not a shock that Haney (31-0, 15 KOs) would decline an offer from Teofimo because he got a big purse for his last match against Ryan Garcia on April 20th, and he wouldn’t come back down to earth, getting just trifle, being paid challenger dough for a match against Teo.

The Emperor’s Second Chance

You can understand why Haney would say not, but NOT Kambosos. With a record of 1-3 in his last four fights, ‘The Emperor’ is not in a position to reject any offer from Teofimo because it’s a fight that would bring in good dough in Australia PPV.

Moreover, if Kambosos whipped Teofimo again, he would be back to where he was in 2021. He could transmute the victory to a potential clash against Ryan Garcia, Gervonta Davis or a trilogy with Haney.
