November 29, Copenhagen, Denmark:
Sarah Mahfoud (15-2) won the vacant WBO International title in the headliner of this edition of Danish Fight Night promoted by Bettina Palle with a close decision over Brazilian Danila Ramos (13-4). After 10 two-minute rounds it was scored 96-94, 96-94 and 95-95 after a messy fight with few highlights. Ramos was the aggressor but kept missing while Mahfoud tended to wait too much. BoxingScene had it 96-94 for Mahfoud.
Both ladies have finished second best against Amanda Serrano – and are likely to do so again should there be a rematch, but it is also likely that Serrano has other plans.
Cruiserweight prospect Hamza Hussein (8-0) stopped Argentine Camilo Castagno (4-8) in the fourth. Hussein, a southpaw, floored Castagno with a left early in the round. Castagno got up but was in trouble and as Hussein poured it on the towel came in, ending the fight at 1:12.
Super middle Oliver Zaren (15-0) stopped tough Mexican Carlos Gallego Montijo (14-9) at 1:12 of the sixth round. Gallego was second best throughout and took a beating in several rounds but was never hurt or off his feet and protested wildly when the fight was stopped. Zaren impressed, showed good hand speed and varied his punches well.
Danish-Ukrainian heavyweight Nicolay Piddubnyy turned pro and knocked out Bosnian Marko Colic (7-10) at 2:57 of the first round. Colic scored with a few wild swings but was then caught by a left-right, went down on one knee and sat the count out.
Sofie Rosshaug (2-0) outscored Serbian Snezana Sillkovic (6-19-3) over four. It was scored 40-36 on all cards but looked a lot closer as the bigger Danish lady kept walking into Siljkovic’s wild right hand time and time again.
Welterweight Viktor Ramon (4-0) knocked out Moldovan debutant Catalin Mihalache with a solid left hook to the body after only 54 seconds of the first round.
Heavyweight Mathias Hansen (6-0) knocked out Bosnian Nemanja Kerezovic (1-6) in the first round of a mismatch. Kerezovic was floored twice and was counted out at 1:27.
Veteran Danish amateur star Fredrik Lundgaard Jensen impressed in his pro debut as he outclassed durable Moldovan Alexander Polinchevici (2-31). It was scored 40-36 twice and 40-35 after four rounds.
Two-time Swedish and Nordic heavyweight champ Genti Morina turned pro and knocked out fellow debutant Julijan Savic from Bosnia with a body punch 1:48 into the first round. Savic appeared to go over a little too easily but stayed down a long time and looked to be in real pain.
Welsh super middle Mark Davies moved to 7-0 with a hard-fought win over Ukrainian Anatoli Burian (5-5-1) in the show opener. Davies was badly cut by the right eye after an accidental clash of heads in the sixth and final round but boxed his way to a win on scores of 59-55 twice and 58-56.
