Charr vs Pulev, Pauls vs Bentley, and more cards feature today on DAZN!
There’s a bevy of boxing action available on DAZN today across Europe (well, mostly in England), and here’s a place you can talk about any and all of it!
Here’s a quick look at all the cards you can watch today on DAZN, at least in the United States:
Noon ET
From Sofia, Bulgaria, heavyweight veterans Mahmoud Charr (34-4, 20 KO) and Kubrat Pulev (31-3, 14 KO) meet in a can-miss main event of fortysomethings, I think for Charr’s paper secondary WBA “title,” but who really cares to keep track of that belt?
Charr, 40, hasn’t fought in two years and it’s been just three bouts since 2017 for a guy who mostly seems to enjoy having his name attached to a belt that means nothing as a claim that he’s “world heavyweight champion.” Pulev, 43, fought in April and is the better fighter with the better career. He’s no longer a contender, either, but smart money would be on the home fighter, and not just because he’s at home.
1 pm ET
Also airing on TNT Sports in the United Kingdom from London.
Pretty easily the best card of the batch, headlined by Brad Pauls (19-1-1, 11 KO) defending his British middleweight title and looking to win the vacant European belt in a matchup with Denzel Bentley (20-3-1, 17 KO), which looks about 50/50 on paper and will really depend on what version of Bentley shows up.
Also on the bill: Sam Noakes (15-0, 14 KO) defends the British and Commonwealth lightweight titles against veteran Ryan Walsh (29-4-2, 13 KO) … Lawrence Okolie (20-1, 15 KO) bounces on over to Queensberry and the heavyweight division — he weighed in over 260 lbs! — to take on Hussein Muhamed (18-1, 14 KO) … Solomon Dacres (9-0, 3 KO) faces David Adeleye (12-1, 11 KO), and more!
2 pm ET
A GBM Sports card from Sheffield headlined by Danny Quartermaine (12-0, 4 KO) taking on Jack Bateson (20-1, 6 KO) in a 10-round super featherweight fight, which does feature a couple sanctioning body regional titles at stake, which is meaningful for rankings positioning.
2 pm ET
A Top Tier Boxing show from Brentwood, England, with a 140 lb rematch between Ben Crocker (13-0, 2 KO) and Stelios Papadopoulos (15-1-2, 5 KO) in the main event. Crocker won a 76-75 referee’s score on April 27 at the same venue, this time it’s a 10-rounder with a minor IBF belt at stake.
