WATERFORD – The Liverpool welterweight contender Robbie Davies is hoping a phone call might come, with firm offers to face either Josh Taylor or Harlem Eubank.

Davies, 35, last boxed in Belfast, when climbing off the deck to defeat Javier Fortuna over 10 rounds and set up a big fight. In his previous outing, he lost to Sergey Lipinets via decision on ProBox TV.

Davies and Lipinets, along with Montana Love, were identified by Matchroom’s Eddie Hearn as possible opponents for Scotland’s Taylor, but it has since been announced that Lipinets will face Adam Azim on February 1.

“I’ve got one or more two on the radar, about taking fights in America,” Davies told BoxingScene. “Eddie said he’d like to see the Taylor fight, Montana Love, Lipinets; Taylor is already in the gym, so someone needs to tell me it’s happening and I need to get cracking.”

Then there is Brighton’s Eubank, who recently returned from a year out to outpoint Nurali Erdogan.

“Harlem Eubank,” added Davies. “[We] just need to speak about a few things and see what they might come up with.”

However, one fight not on Davies’ radar is the winner of Saturday night’s clash in Waterford between Tyrone McKenna and Dylan Moran. Davies is in town working with the talented Croft brothers, Ioan and Garan, who are making their pro debuts, and said he might not even stay for the ProBox TV main event at the SETU Arena.

The promoter Jamie Conlan had said earlier in the week that the winner could fight Davies, but he is not looking at that.

“Jamie has got a fight for me and it’s definitely not one of them,” Davies said. “There’s a few a lot bigger names than them two, that are looking at me as an opponent, so I haven’t shown any interest in their fight.

“There’s no one that makes me go, ‘Oh, I want to fight him.’ When a fight is signed and sealed I’ll get excited about it. But over the years things have been put together and they just haven’t happened, so I don’t let myself get too excited anymore.”
