Wise Owl Boxing has announced the signing of 2020 Mexican Olympian Brianda Tamara Cruz.
Cruz, 25, made her pro debut in August and has a record of 1-0. She had an amateur record of 62-8 and was an eight-time national champion spanning four weight divisions, according to Wise Owl Boxing. Cruz, a welterweight from Mazatlan, has won several gold medals in international competitions, such as the International Cup, La Romana International Cup, National Elite and Quadrangular Tournaments.
“I am excited and ready for 2025,” said Cruz. “It should be a great year. I am focused on my career, and signing with Wise Owl Boxing is a good opportunity for me. I believe that I can fight for a world title quickly. I want to win all the titles at 147lbs. It doesn’t really matter who is in my way. I was the first woman to go to the Olympics and represent Mexico and I can’t wait to bring a world title back home. I want to thank all the fans and people that have been behind me. The best of me is yet to come.”
Said Mark Habibi of Wise Owl Boxing: “I’m thrilled to announce our partnership with Brianda, an incredible athlete whose skill, determination and dedication to the sport of boxing are at the highest levels. Brianda’s achievements, including her Olympic journey, speak volumes about her potential. We aim to elevate her career to new heights and continue showcasing her talent on a global stage. This is just the beginning of an exciting journey, and I’m honored to be a part of it.”
