The heavyweight Pryce Taylor is feeling good after his first win with his new promoter, Salita Promotions.
Earlier in December, Taylor stopped KeShawn Jackson in the third round at the Dort Federal Event Center, in Flint, Michigan.
Taylor holds a record of 5-0 (3 KOs) and was signed to Salita Promotions prior to his past fight. The 28-year-old New Yorker Taylor is hopeful for what the future holds for him.
“It felt good fighting on a bigger stage in a small arena with a cool atmosphere,” Taylor said. “My manager, Keith Sullivan, supported me by agreeing to sign with Salita Promotions. He spoke with several promoters, but we felt Dimitry Salita was the right fit for me. I felt like I had made it; I felt important, but this is just the beginning.
“The night of the fight was the same, I felt respect and appreciation from the entire Salita promotional company. My goal is to be more acknowledged as a fighter and recognized by the fans. I am hungry to showcase myself in the coming year.”
Taylor continued by describing his win over the 22-year-old Jackson, who holds a record of 1-6-1 (1 KO) from Kalamazoo, Michigan.
“Four knockdowns were counted,” he said. “I really hurt him with a body shot and once he felt my power he was done. I threw a barrage of punches in the corner, and he tried to hit me with a windmill punch. I then hit him with a check-hook that ended the fight. He [Jackson] didn’t want to get knocked out, so he tried showing he was still fighting.”
“I am happy with the win,” said Sullivan, Taylor’s manager. “It was yet another development fight and Pryce is learning and growing as a fighter. We had a busy year with eight scheduled fights and five that actually got over the line, so it was a very good first year as a pro for him. Immediately afterwards, I was in talks with Dimitry to line up the next fight. Hopefully, we’ll have him scheduled for the coming weeks.”
“I’ll be training to go 10 rounds now,” Taylor said. “So that I’ll be ready when the time comes for me to go 12 rounds.”
