A fight between welterweight prospect Pat McCormack and veteran Robbie Davies Jnr has landed on the February 15 card at the Co-op Live in Manchester, England, according to Matchroom Boxing.
The show will be headlined by a junior welterweight elimination bout between Jack Catterall vs Arnold Barboza Jnr and will air on DAZN.
McCormack, a 29-year-old from Washington, England, competed as a welterweight in the 2020/2021 Olympics, taking home a silver medal after falling short against Roniel Iglesias in the tournament finale. McCormack then turned pro in 2022, fighting three times that year, then twice in 2023 but just once in 2024.
McCormack’s most recent appearance, in October, ended a layoff of nearly 16 months but at least allowed him to shake off some rust over the course of a 10-round unanimous decision against the 16-3 Williams Andres Herrera. McCormack is now 6-0 (4 KOs).
Davies, a 35-year-old from Kirkby, England, is more seasoned as a professional, for better and for worse. He has compiled far more experience in his 11 and a half years in the paid ranks but has also taken damage, and defeats, while compiling a record of 24-5 (15 KOs). Davies has lost two of his past three and gone 3-2 overall in his past five.
He has been good enough to beat some faded fellow veterans, knocking out Hank Lundy in two rounds in 2021, taking a split decision over Javier Molina in 2022 and getting a narrow points nod over Javier Fortuna this past November. But Davies also was dropped thrice and stopped in three by the 21-4-1 Darragh Foley in 2023, and he lost a unanimous decision to Sergey Lipinets last May.
The undercard is also scheduled to include a junior lightweight fight between Reece Bellotti and Michael Gomez Jnr and separate appearances by junior middleweight prospect William Crolla, debuting light heavyweight Conner Tudsbury and featherweight prospect Alfie Middlemiss, all against opponents still to be determined.
