Featherweights Omar Trinidad and Mike Plania both made weight on Thursday for their 10-round main-event bout set for Friday at the Commerce Casino in Commerce, California.
The fight marks the first major boxing card of 2025, and will be staged amid the backdrop of the Los Angeles wildfires.
Trinidad tipped the scales at 125.8lbs, while Plania came in a smidgen lighter at 125.0lbs.
Trinidad, 28, from Boyle Heights, California, has tried to maintain focus on his professional responsibilities yet acknowledged in an interview with BoxingScene earlier this week “the bigger things to worry about” currently affecting those in the L.A. area.
Trinidad, 17-0-1 (13 KOs), has won 17 straight fights after starting his career with a draw. Plania, 27, from General Santos City, Philippines, is entering the fight on a two-fight knockout streak and holds a record of 31-4 (18 KOs).
In the co-feature, junior bantamweight titleholder Mizuki Hiruta, of Tokyo, weighed in at 114.2lbs for US debut. Maribel Ramirez, of Mexico City, Mexico, weighed in at 113.8lbs.
Hiruta, 28, will be making her third title defense and is coming off a year out of the ring. She trains with Manny Robles in Southern California and currently has a record of 6-0 (2 KOs). Ramirez, 38, is unbeaten in her past three fights and holds a record of 15-10-4 (3 KOs).
The main card will be streamed on UFC Fight Pass, while the preliminary bouts will be streamed on UFC Fight Pass’ YouTube channel.
