Raymond Ford’s return is planned to feature on the undercard of the unification fight between Jaron ‘Boots’ Ennis and Eimantas Stanionis on April 12 in Atlantic City.

Ford last fought in November, dominating Orlando Gonzalez in his junior lightweight debut on the Ennis-Chukhadzhian 2 undercard. Prior to that, he last fought on June’s Matchroom vs. Queensberry ‘5v5’ card out in Saudi Arabia, losing his WBA featherweight world title against Nick Ball. Ford was vocal before the contest on how it would be his last bout at 126 pounds as he planned to move up to junior lightweight.

Matchroom Boxing CEO, Frank Smith has now confirmed that Ford is set to return on the undercard of the IBF and WBA welterweight unification between Ennis and Stanionis.

“Yeah, that’s the plan,” Smith told BoxingScene. “I spoke to his management team, Brian Peters, yesterday. That’s the plan to get him back out on April 12th. A fight I was always looking at was potentially Zelfa Barrett. Zelfa Barrett now fighting Jazza Dickens on Feb 15th, but that was a fight that interested me. There’s lots of fights out there for Ray Ford. He wants to work his way back into world title opportunities.”
