It was no big surprise that women’s heavyweight titleholder Claressa Shields and Danielle Perkins made weight Saturday, as their upcoming bout will be contested at heavyweight.
Shields will attempt to defend her WBC title and become undisputed Sunday at Dort Financial Center in Flint, Michigan, when she fights for the vacant WBO and IBF belts. The bout will be telecast on DAZN.
Shields, a 29-year-old Flint native, tipped the scales at 173.6lbs. Perkins, a 42-year-old from Brooklyn, New York, and now residing in Houston, hit the scales nearly four pounds heavier at 177.2lbs.
Shields, 15-0 (3 KOs), is a multi-division titleholder who previously earned undisputed status at middleweight and super middleweight. Perkins, 5-0 (2 KOs), who fought twice in 2024, will be fighting in her first 10-rounder against one of the top women’s fighters in boxing but showed no signs of intimidation during fight week.
Weigh-in results are as follows:
Women’s heavyweights – 10 rounds
Claressa Shields (173.6lbs) vs. Danielle Perkins (177.2lbs)
More weights to be updated as they are received.
