Bruce Carrington believes he’s a better fighter than the new WBC featherweight champion Stephen Fulton Jr., and he can’t wait to get the opportunity to dethrone him.
Carrington (14-0, 8 KOs) is ranked #1 with the WBC, so he should get a shot against Fulton soon. That will be a much more interesting fight to watch to see how Fulton handles Carrington’s punching power.
Carrington’s Power
Fulton’s kryptonite is a powerful fighter, as we observed in his eighth-round knockout loss to Naoya Inoue on July 25, 2023, and his drama-filled fight against Carlos Castro on September 14th last year.
Carrington has power almost as good as Inoue, but his shots are not as fast or as accurate. That’s what made Inoue so lethal to Fulton. The Japanese star was throwing shots with blinding speed and colossal power that Fulton couldn’t handle.
Fulton (23-1, 8 KOs) became a two-division world champion last Saturday night, defeating WBC 126-lb champion Brandon Figueroa (25-2-1, 19 KOs) by a 12-round unanimous decision in their rematch at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
Stephen Fulton Jr. (23-1, 8 KOs) captured the WBC Featherweight World Championship with an impressive unanimous decision (117-111 and 116-112 twice) victory over two-division world champion Brandon “The Heartbreaker” Figueroa (25-2-1, 19 KOs) in their championship rematch.
“I’m the better fighter between the two of us. I feel like I box better than him, and I fight on the inside better than him,” said Bruce Carrington to The Ring about his belief that he’s a superior fighter to newly crowned WBC featherweight champion Fulton.
“I’m faster and stronger than him. I’m more disciplined in terms of staying in a game plan throughout a fight. I really believe I’l become the WBC champion.”
Carrington has a fight scheduled for next month against Enrique Vivas (23-3, 12 KOs) on March 29 at the Fontainebleau Las Vegas, Las Vegas. Carrington-Vivas will be fighting a 10-rounder on the undercard of WBO welterweight champion Brian Norman Jr’s defense against Derrieck Cuevas.
