Claressa Shields is the new heavyweight queen after a win over Danielle Perkins.

Claressa Shields became an undisputed champion again, albeit in a division that doesn’t really exist, as she defeated Danielle Perkins to become the undisputed heavyweight champion of the world.

Shields (16-0, 3 KO) dropped Perkins (5-1, 2 KO) in the 10th and final round, and mostly dominated the bout otherwise, a fairly routine performance for her stellar career to date.

Perkins does deserve credit for trying to win until the end — which is also why she got dropped, because she continued looking for a way to land a miracle knockout shot, opening herself up for hard shots from the pound-for-pound queen.

Shields, 29, once again finds herself in a spot with her boxing career where she’s done just about everything there is to do, though a Savannah Marshall rematch — particularly with “heavyweight” marketing — would still make good money, whether held in the United Kingdom (where it would make more) or Michigan.
