Juanma Lopez de Jesus just had his pro debut earlier this month. Now his team is looking at scheduling the flyweight prospect’s Puerto Rican debut in March or April, according to El Nuevo Dia.

The 19-year-old Lopez de Jesus – nicknamed “Juanmita” – hails from Caguas, the island’s fifth-largest city. He is the namesake son of Juan Manuel Lopez, a two-division titleholder who last fought in 2019.

Lopez de Jesus competed in the 2024 Olympics and entered the paid ranks on the February 14 undercard of Denys Berinchyk-Keyshawn Davis, needing just 59 seconds to knock out the 1-1-1 Bryan Santiago at The Theater At Madison Square Garden.

No opponent or venue was reported.

Juan Manuel Lopez made his pro debut in Bayamon in January 2005, fighting 25 of his 43 pro bouts in Puerto Rico. Those events included two defenses of his junior featherweight title (wins over Cesar Figueroa and Gerry Penalosa) and two defenses of his featherweight title (a win over Bernabe Concepcion and a loss to Orlando Salido).

The elder Lopez’s final fight, a draw with the 16-4 Emiliano Martin Garcia, took place at the Coliseo Roger L. Mendoza in Caguas.
