Adam Azim and Sergey Lipinets eventually made weight for tomorrow’s junior welterweight contest, though both required a second trip to the scales to do so.

Slough, England’s Azim, the favorite, was five ounces (0.31lbs) over the 140lbs divisional limit while the Kazakhstan-biorn Lipinets was a full pound over at the first time of asking. However, after being given two additional hours to trim down by the British Boxing Board of Control both came in at 140lbs “in plenty of time”, according to the Board’s General Secretary Robert Smith.

“It’s all good,” Azim said upon making the contracted weight. “I’m ready for the fight, I don’t care about eating or nothing.

“You guys will see a new Adam Azim on Saturday.”

Meanwhile, Ghana’s Elvis Ahorgah (166.3lbs) spoke of his intention to flatten huge unbeaten favorite Callum Simpson (168lbs) when he challenges for the Commonwealth super middleweight title on the Wembley Arena undercard.

“I’m always ready,” he said of the short notice assignment. “No repeat, no surrender. He has not fought a fighter like me… If he is good, I am more than good. I will knock him out.”

“He can say what he wants,” Simpson said. “Tomorrow’s not going to be a war, it’s going to be a demolition job. He’s going to get knocked out early. If he carries on what he’s saying, saying he’s going to break my neck, it’s going to be in the first round.”
