Former four-division world champion Adrien Broner names Terence Crawford as his pound-for-pound King, but he has Gervonta Davis as the #1 guy in the sport regarding the excitement he brings to his fights.
Crawford’s inactivity has hurt his ability to stay on top of the pound-for-pound lists. He’s been on an extended victory lap since last July, and he slipped from the #1 spot to #3.

To improve his chances of retaking the #1 pound-for-pound spot, Crawford will need to stay active, win his August 3rd fight against WBA junior middleweight champion Israil Madrimov, and defeat the winner of the October fight between WBC/WBO 154-lb champion Sebastian Fundora and Errol Spence Jr.
Broner (35-5-1, 24 KOs) is fighting next week against Blair Cobbs (16-1-1, 10 KOs) on June 7th at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino, Hollywood. AB will be coming off a year-long layoff, as he last fought in June 2023, defeating Bill Hutchinson by a ten-round unanimous decision.
“I would say Terence Crawford,” said Adrien Broner to the media when asked who he feels is the #1 pound-for-pound fighter in the sport. “If we’re talking about who the #1 fighter in boxing, it’s Terence Crawford. But if we’re talking about who the #1 guy in boxing is, it’s Gervonta Davis.
“When you got to a Tank fight, it’s not just a fight. It’s an event, and the whole world comes to see him. A lot of people want to see him lose, and a lot of people want to see him win and he got the world out right now.
“You know why I respect him now is because a lot of people would have taken that position he is now, and they’d be acting different,” said Broner about Tank Davis, who has remained humble despite becoming wealthy and successful in his 11-year professional career.
“I respect him the most because he still looks at me as ‘Big bro.’ No matter about the money, he still looks at me and comes around me, ‘That’s big bro.’ That’s what I respect about him, and I love him to death.
Broner says he’d ideally like to fight in Saudi Arabia if possible. That would be a great career boost for the 16-year pro, but he’s not one of the top-tier-level guys that His Excellency Turki Alalshikh tends to choose for his events in Saudi Arabia.
Alalshikh occasionally selects non-top-level guys for his cards, like Francis Ngannou, but he focuses on using relevant fighters for the most part. That hurts Broner’s chances of being selected.
“Saudi,” said Broner when asked where he would like to fight. My fight is next week on June 7th at the Hard Rock. That’s all I’m worried about right now,” said Broner when asked if His Excellency Turki Alalshikh had contacted him about fighting.
