Janibek Alimkhanuly will have a homecoming fight in Kazakhstan as he takes on Anauel Ngamissengue this spring.

As previously reported, Janibek Alimkhanuly is set to have a spring title defense in his home country of Kazakhstan, but it will actually come against Anauel Ngamissengue. ESPN reports that Alimkhanuly will defend his IBF and WBO middleweight world titles on April 5 in Astana and will be streamed on ESPN+.

Alimkhanuly (16-0, 11 KOs), a reigning unified champion, is most recently coming off a ninth round TKO win over Andrei Mikhailovich last October, marking his third straight stoppage.

His opponent, Ngamissengue (14-0, 9 KOs) is an undefeated boxer fighting out of France by way of Congo, but has largely been a domestic fighter who hasn’t yet faced this level of opposition and will be fighting in his first ever 12-rounder. In fact, he’s never fought more than eight rounds in a fight thus far.

Needless to say Alimkhanuly will enter this match as a considerable favorite to win this fight as he continues to seek out another unification match against Erilandy Lara or else the winner between Carlos Adames vs Hamzah Sheeraz later this month.
