Derailed heavyweight hopeful Jared Anderson could make his ring return next month in New York

Lance Pugmire brings word that heavyweight prospect Jared Anderson will return to the ring as part of Top Rank’s planned February 14th Keyshawn Davis vs Denys Berinchyk show in New York.

“The Real Big Baby” (17-1 15 KO) began his 2024 campaign on wobbly footing after driving while intoxicated in November and subsequently leading police on a high-speed chase four months later. A tepid decision over Ryad Merhy did little to restore his luster, and while he showed admirable ambition in challenging Martin Bakole in August, his eyes proved bigger than his stomach when Bakole smashed him in five.

He’ll face an easier touch this time in Marios Kollias (12-3-1, 10 KO), a 33-year-old who dropped a decision to future Murat Gassiev victim Kem Ljungquist last March. Very much a get-well fight for Anderson, who’s got the skills and physicality to be a contender but can’t seem to get out of his own way.

In addition to this bout and the main event, Keith Idec reports that the show will see Xander Zayas fight Slawa Spomer.
