Andres Katzourakis and Kudratillo Abdukakhorov both made weight Thursday for their fight set for Friday at Houston’s Red Owl Boxing Arena, the show’s main event and part of Overtime Boxing’s ongoing junior middleweight tournament.
Katzourakis (12-0, 10 KOs) weighed in at 153.2 pounds, while Abdukakhorov (20-2, 12 KOs) came in at 153.6 pounds for their scheduled 10-rounder.
Katzourakis, 26, trains with Ronnie Shields, as the Greek fighter has relocated to Texas. The former kickboxer is aiming to make a statement.
“I am very excited to be headlining my first televised show on DAZN and Overtime,” said Katzourakis. “I was waiting for a moment like this. I am about to put on a show for everybody.”
Abdukakhorov, 30, nicknamed “The Punisher,” is on a two-fight winning streak after suffering consecutive losses, to Cody Crowley and Ve Shawn Owens, at welterweight. This prompted his move up to junior middleweight.
In the co-feature, Robert Terry (11-0-1, 4 KOs) weighed in at the junior middleweight limit of 154 pounds, while his opponent, Estevan Villalobos (16-2-1, 12 KOs), came in slightly lighter at 153.8 pounds. This bout is also scheduled for 10 rounds.
As with all Overtime Boxing shows, in the event of a draw, an extra round is fought to decide the winner.
The winners of the main event and co-main event will face one another later this year. Junior middleweights Brandon Adams and Francisco Daniel Veron, who won on the previous OTX show, will meet in the other semifinal to determine a future finals matchup.
