Jai Opetaia looks towards just another day at the office when he defends cruiserweight title against David Nyika.

During Today’s press conference for the cruiserweight title fight between Jai Opetaia and David Nyika, both fighters fielded some questions from Matchroom promoter Eddie Hearn about the fight, starting with Nykia who as asked about this big opportunity for him.

“This is what we play for. I’ve trained hard, I believe in myself, and I’ve got just as much heart, just as much grit at Jai,” Nyika said. “Jai obviously has the experience that I don’t possess and I’m going to prove to everybody in 48 hours the capability that I have and the ability to become the new cruiserweight world champion.”

Opetaia was then asked about his thoughts on defending his IBF title back on home soil of Australia, where he hasn’t had a fight in a couple of years.

“It’s been a long time coming,” Opetaia said about fighting in Australia. “We’ve done a lot of international travel, a lot of international fights so we’re not new to these big stages anymore. It feels like another day in the office. We’re meant to be here. We’ve done our apprenticeship. This is all just through to the labor, we’ve built this division on my back, so it’s good, I’m ready, I’m sick of these interviews and I just want to fight.”
