Arnold Barboza (30-0, 11 KOs) couldn’t help but chuckle when he saw on social media that Matchroom’s Eddie Hearn revealed that he sent an offer to Golden Boy Promotions for him to fight Jack Catterall (29-1, 13 KOs).

Catterall is coming off of his May 25 unanimous decision victory over Josh Taylor in Leeds.  The victory was especially sweet for Catterall because of his controversial split decision loss to Taylor in 2022.

“I love that fight. When Catterall was No. 1, I was always calling him out and he never paid no mind to it but now the tables have turned.  Eddie and Catterall need to make it worth my time, especially if they want me to go out and fight him in his hometown and be on a Matchroom card. Make it worth my while and we got a fight,” Barboza told

Now Barboza is ranked No. 1 by the WBO and doesn’t need to fight Catterall, who is ranked No. 6, to get a shot at the champion Teofimo Lopez.

However, the Southern California based fighter said he wants to make the best fights possible for the fans and has no problems taking on Catterall.

“Ain’t no one scared bro (.) I’m a fighter(.) If you’re a boxer and your scared to fight someone then your in the wrong game(.) I hope we get this done,” Barboza responded to Catterall on X.

The 32-year-old Barboza has maintained a busy schedule in 2024, having already fought twice.  He stopped Xolisani Ndongeni in January and defeated Sean McComb via split decision in April.

Catterall has won all three of his fights since suffering his only loss to Taylor.
