Kameda, 26 years old and from Osaka, has a significant height advantage over Nery and is 15-3-2 (9 KOs). The veteran Nery, who has not fought since being stopped in six rounds in the Tokyo Dome by Naoya Inoue in May 2024, is 35-2 (27 KOs).
Nery, 30, has, in the past, admitted to his role as playing the villain ahead of his fights, and told BoxingScene, post-Inoue: “I’m still a bad boy.”
