A grumpy-sounding David Benavidez says he not only wants to defeat WBA ‘regular’ light heavyweight champion David Morrell but “humiliate” him in front of the whole world this Saturday, February 1st on Prime Video.
It’s a bad idea for the insecure-seeming Benavidez to try to brawl with Morrell out of anger because he could get knocked out if he fights like a raving lunatic inside the ring on Saturday night.
Humilation Goal
Cuban fighters are known for being calm during fights, and Morrell is no different. He’ll take advantage if Benavidez goes berserk in their main event fight. That style of fighting like a madman works against smaller fighters that are heading for the glue factory, but not against a talented guy like Morrell.
Benavidez (29-0, 24 KOs) seems unhappy that Morrell (11-0, 9 KOs) that Morrell has labeled him as a “fat chicken” in the build-up for their headliner on PBC on prime Video PPV. Benavidez is hyper-alert to any criticism given to him by Morrell or others, and it’s gotten him in a rage seeing his status lowered by the Cuban.
However, Morrell calls it as he sees it because he’s fought against the best worldwide during his amateur days in Cuba. He feels that Benavidez has been gaming the system all these years, fighting small old guys at 168
Former WBC super middleweight champion Benavidez, 28, has taken pride in Mike Tyson’s nickname, ‘Mexican Monster. ‘ However, Morrell sees him as a phony weight bully who was just a big chicken who didn’t want to fight him until now. He doesn’t respect Benavidez and what he represents as a fake poser.
“The fire I have for this fight is different than any other fight. Not only do I want to beat him, I want to humiliate him in front of everybody, and that’s exactly what’s going to happen,” said David Benavidez to Premier Boxing Champions about his vision for his fight against David Morrell this Saturday night. “David Morrell is 100% f****.”
