Underdog Edgar Berlanga wore a ski mask for the grand arrivals today to discuss his title fight against unified super middleweight champion Canelo Alvarez on Saturday night, September 14th, for Mexican Independence Day. It’s unclear why the ski mask, but it would have been perfect if this were Halloween.

Speaking in Spanish and English, Berlanga (22-0, 17 KOs) predicted a sixth-round knockout of Canelo (61-2-2, 39 KOs) and vowed to make “history” by unseating the three-belt 168-lb champion at the T-Mobile Arena.

Berlanga says he’s been building up to this history-making fight for 20 years, and that moment is finally here. He will take advantage of it by destroying Alvarez in the “Puerto Rico vs. Mexico war” live on DAZN PPV. Berlanga didn’t mention the price of the event, but it’s selling for $89.99 on pay-per-view.

“I’m ready. I’ve been in this game for 20 years. We’re about to make history. There’s something special that is going to happen this weekend,” said Edgar Berlanga to the media during today’s grand arrivals for his fight against Canelo Alvarez on Saturday in Las Vegas.

Motivating the Fence-Sitters

Berlanga needs to motivate the fence-sitter before Saturday because many boxing fans are still undecided about paying $90 to order the event on PPV. The undercard isn’t good enough to motivate people who are still trying to decide whether to order it on DAZN PPV. Something spectacular needs to happen at the weigh-in on Friday to encourage the people holding off on ordering it.

“Listen, he’s going to put me to that level, and all my life, I’ve been there. When it’s time to shine, and it’s my moment, I always come through,” continued Berlanga. “This weekend, Saturday is going to be history.

“This is war. It’s Puerto Rico vs. Mexico. It’s something for the history books. As far as Canelo, we always have respect him for his accolades in the sport of boxing. It’s a fight on September 14th. We’ve got a big fight this weekend.

“He’s going in to hurt me, and I’ve got to go in and hurt him. I’m going to knock him out in the sixth round. He told me eight rounds. I got him six. Shout out to the haters. I love y’all. Y’all push me for greatness, man,” said Berlanga.
