Artur Beterbiev asked his followers today on X if there needs to be a rematch between him and Dmitry Bivol. Beterbiev (21-0, 20 KOs) beat former WBA light welterweight champion Bivol (23-1, 12 KOs) by a questionable 12-round majority decision on October 12th in Riyadh.
Bivol’s fans and promoter, Eddie Hearn, have been squawking about the results ever since. Hearn wants the Beterbiev-Bivol rematch on February 22nd on the giant Riyadh Season card that is being put together.
Hearn is still pretty bitter about Bivol losing, feeling he was given a raw deal. Bivol lost his nerve for the fight after Beterbiev took the fight to him in the seventh.
The Scores:
– 115-113
– 116-112
– 114-114
“I believe Dmitry Bivol will become undisputed light heavyweight world champion in the rematch,” said Eddie Hearn to TNT Sports, upset about his fighter, Bivol, losing to Beterbiev.
“The whole world will want to see that again…everybody I know that knows boxing had Bivol winning.” We take the result on the chin, but you can’t just back down…in moments of generational great fights like that, you need to get it right.”
