Artur Beterbiev appeared angry during today’s press conference ahead of his Rihyadh Season undisputed light heavyweight championship clash against Dmitry Bivol on October 12th. One thing that may have put IBF, WBC, and WBO 175-lb champion Beterbiev (20-0, 20 KOs) in a foul mood was when it was his time to speak during the press conference.

The commentator said to him, “I know you’re a man of few words,” and then quickly moved on after letting Beterbiev answer a question. You could tell from looking at Beterbiev’s face that he wasn’t happy about being unable to speak more for such an important fight. He should have been given more of an opportunity to talk rather than being dismissed with the ‘man of few words’ comment.

This event is supposed to be about Beterbiev and Bivol,  not the undercard fighters, who seemed to be given more time during the press conference than the two 175-lb champions. The undercard is filled with fighters nowhere near world level except for the women’s bout.

“My coach tells me don’t tell details,” said Beterbiev to the Stomping Grounds about his trainer not wanting him to reveal his game plan for his fight against Dmitry Bivol on October 12th. “Right now, my dream fight, all my fight is Dmitry Bivol now. After, we’ll think, and we’ll see [who comes next].

“When Canelo Alvarez had one belt [WBO 175-lb title] in my division, that time, I wanted to fight with him, but now, I don’t think so. It’s not interesting to have a fight with him,” said Beterbiev when asked if he’d like to fight Canelo. “Of course,” said Beterbiev when asked if the titles are the most important thing to him.

“All my previous fights, I don’t give predictions. I’m not a predictor. I’m just a simple boxer, and I do my job as I can. I will do my best,” said Beterbiev.
