Artur Beterbiev posted on social media today to inquire about Jake Paul’s interest in challenging him for his undisputed light heavyweight championship. Beterbiev notes that Jake didn’t reject or accept his offer and wants to know if he’s interested.
(21-0, 20 KOs) had already expressed interest in giving the famous YouTuber Jake (11-1, 7 KOs) a title shot after his victory over former heavyweight champion Mike Tyson last Friday night in Arlington, Texas.
Few fans expect Jake Paul to accept the offer from the two-time Olympian Beterbiev because he knows his chances of success would be nonexistent. After four years in the pro game, the 27-year-old influencer Jake is not that kind of a fighter. He’s a guy who hustles fights, picking his prey carefully to ensure victory against notable fighters past their prime.
Will Jake Accept Beterbiev’s Offer?
Beterbiev, 39, can make more money fighting Jake Paul than he can defend against former WBA 175-lb champion Dmitry Bivol in a rematch.
Jake has way more charisma, popularity, and a huge following worldwide, making it more profitable for Beterbiev to fight him than Bivol, the rather dull comparison. The attention that a fight between them would receive would be levels above a rematch with Bivol.
Jake reacted to the offer from Beterbiev with amusement, saying on X, “4 years in, and I run this sport.”
The fighter that Paul wants is Canelo Alvarez, who is the face of boxing, and the one that will bring him his biggest payday. Most fans would agree that Paul isn’t going to ruin his chances of hitting the motherload against Canelo by facing Beterbiev and getting destroyed in one or two one-sided rounds
World-class fighters like Beterbiev can make enormous amounts of money fighting Jake Paul, and the public that he and others would receive would be huge. It’s worth it for those reasons. Jake’s huge social media reach is why he and his opponents can command massive purses for fights.
Jake Paul’s Subscriber counts
– X [formerly Twitter]: 4.6 million followers
– Instagram: 27 million followers
– YouTube: 20.8 subscribers
The popularity that Jake Paul has makes it worthwhile for Beterbiev to exhaust his efforts to try and get a fight against him.
After four years it’s time to have serious challenges. Didn’t notice your acceptance or rejection. So what are we gonna do?
