Bill Haney took to social media today to let promoter Oscar De La Hoya know his son Devin Haney’s lawsuit against Golden Boy Promotions and Ryan Garcia “still stands.”
Haney (31-0, 15 KOs) is suing Ryan for a doping violation from their fight on April 20th, in which Garcia tested positive for a banned substance.
Haney, 25, hasn’t said what his plans for his career or if he’ll ever fight again. If this is Devin’s focus, hoping to hit it big with his lawsuit, he could be disappointed if it fails.
Some fans feel like he’s given up and will be hanging up his gloves. He took a pounding from Ryan (24-1, 20 KOs), getting dropped several times in 12 round decision loss. According to Garcia, the rematch is no longer an option.
“Oscar De La [Hoya] everybody out. Gennadiy Golovkin sued you, and Ryan Garcia threatened to sue you. I don’t need to sit down with you on nothing,” said Bill Haney on social media, reacting to Oscar De La Hoya saying on X that he would help the Haney’s understand the contract for the Ryan Garcia fight last April.
“I see you doing a lot of Tweeting, but you ain’t speaking. Maybe you are somewhere tweaking. The lawsuit stands,” said Bill.
If Haney does continue his career, he will have to try to come back from his loss at 147. That will be hard for him to do because that’s a tough division to compete in for fighters who lack power and a strong chin. Haney might be the equivalent of fish food at welterweight, and he won’t last long in this weight class.
Enough is enough. Every fighter who has worked with Golden Boy has always been paid exactly what they are owed and given all documents they were entitled to. Period. Any suggestion to the contrary is simply false. If the Haneys are still having trouble understanding their…
