Bob Arum expects relatively smooth negotiations for a Gervonta Davis vs Vasiliy Lomachenko showdown.

Bob Arum took some time to talk to Fight Hype about the prospects for finally securing a fight between Gervonta ‘Tank’ Davis and Vasiliy Lomachenko. As Arum explains, while there was a time in the past that the fight was being discussed and may have perhaps been of bigger significance, he says there’s no point on dwelling on that now and that he doesn’t expect there to be much difficulty in making that fight now.

Arum on the likelihood of successfully negotiating a Tank vs Lomachenko fight

“We know that both fighters want the fight. So when that happens the suits sit down and try to work out the economic terms and try to put it together, and I’m optimistic that they’ll do that and that the fight will happen. But until it’s signed, you don’t know.”

On the different networks that would need to be involved in making that fight

“Don’t worry, the networks are cooperative. You can’t blame the networks if the fight isn’t made. It’s the people who are involved with the fighters who are not being realistic, but I don’t think that to be the case. I think the negotiations will go very well between the sides.”

On if a Tank vs Lomachenko fight is at it’s peak commercial value

“I don’t know if it’s highest or not but this is the time that it can be made and they’re both coming off big victories so it’s all good. At a particular other time would the fight have meant more? I don’t know. Maybe. But you can’t look back at that. We’re at this time now in the career of both guys and it’s a very interesting, intriguing fight.”
