Lightweight contender Andy Cruz (4-0, 2 KOs) put on a crowd-pleasing performance tonight, trading bombs with the slugger Antonio Moran (30-6-, 21 KOs) to score a seventh-round knockout at the BMO Stadium in Los Angeles.

Cruz hurt Moran in the seventh round with a perfectly placed right hand and then finished him with a follow-up barrage of punches that sent the veteran collapsing against the ropes. The referee pulled the plug on the fight when Moran staggered across the ring.

Cruz Abandons Slick Style for a Crowd-Pleasing Brawl

The Cuban 2020 Olympic gold medalist Cruz abandoned his everyday slick fighting style and stood and traded with Moran throughout the contest.

Moran made it tough on Cruz with his pressure, power, and size. He looked a lot bigger than Cruz tonight, making it a more competitive fight than it should have been.

Cruz’s trainer, Derek ‘Bozy’ Ennis, kept encouraging him to back Moran up, and that made it a tough one for him because he was forced to take shots that he wouldn’t have it he’d stuck to his slick amateur style. Bozy obviously wanted Cruz to entertain the fans because they wanted to see brawling.
