NABF Super Lightweight champion unbeaten Russian Arthur ’The Wolf’ Biyarslanov of Toronto stopped previously unbeaten Tamas Kiliti of Hungary in three rounds on Thursday night at the Montreal Casino, Montreal, Quebec, Canada.
Biyarslanov (16-0, 14) KOs) stopped late sub Kiliti (10-1, 6 KOs) at 1:38 of the third round of a scheduled 10.
In the first round, a left, followed by a right from Biyarslanov and down went Kiliti. In the second rounds final seconds a flurry of punches from Biyarslanov dropped Kiliti for an 8-count from Referee Steve St-Germain.
In the third round, Biyarslanov landed half a dozen punches ending with a right to the head, dropping Kiliti for an 8-count. He spit out the mouthpiece sitting on the canvas. Upon rising, referee St-Germain wisely called a halt.
2021 Olympic Bronze Medalist and NABF Light Heavy champ Imam Khataev (8-0, 8 KOs) stopped Ezequiel ’El Olimpico’ Osvaldo Maderna (31-13, 21 KOs) at 0:45 of the seventh round of a scheduled 10.
In the first round, Khataev, with an 88-21 am record after being behind in the first half, came back well in the second half and was the aggressor. In the second round, a clash of heads caused a nasty cut under Maderna’s right eyebrow. He managed to get through the round but barely.
Khataev had an edge over the taller Maderna in the third round, outworking him. It went back and forth in the fourth round, with both having their moments. In the fifth round, Khataev hit Maderna on the back, causing Referee Junior Padulo to give him time to rest.
In the sixth round, Khataev outworked Maderna, taking a close round. In the seventh round, a Khataev body shot dropped Maderna, who took the count on a knee from referee Padulo.
Former Olympian and WBA Int’l and WBC Silver Super Welter champ Mary Spencer (9-2, 6 KOs) won a disputed decision over southpaw Naomi Mannes (7-3-1, 4 KOs) 10×2 rounds for the vacant WBA interim Super Welter title. A questionable knockdown call cost Mannes the fight. The fans didn’t agree with the decision.
In the first round, the 39-year-old Spencer drove the southpaw Mannes into the ropes with a right on the chin, easily taking the round. In the second round’s final minute, I landed a combination to the chin, having Mannes on the defense.
In the third round, Mannes came back, driving Spencer around the ring and taking the round. In the fourth round, it went back and forth, with Mannes having an edge. In the fifth round, it was again close, with Spencer finishing the stronger of the two.
In the sixth round, Spencer came back in the first minute and Mannes in the second minute, with Spencer winning by the smallest margin. Mannes took the seventh through ninth rounds.
In the tenth and final round, a body shot from Spencer made Mannes’ knees buckle when Referee Martin Forest called it a knockdown. Mannes came back strong, but the knockdown won Spencer the round.
The scores were 96-93 x 3. I scored it 95-94 Mannes.
Welter Christopher ‘Machine Gun’ Guerrero (12-0, 7 KOs) stopped Courtney Pennington (17-9-3, 7 KOs) at 1:56 of the fourth of a scheduled eight after a pair of knockdowns.
In the first two rounds, there was little to choose between the two, with Guerrero having an edge. In the third round, the final seconds hurt Pennington with a right uppercut on the chin and a flurry afterward.
In the fourth round, Guerrero dropped Pennington with a right for an 8-count from Referee Yvon Goulet. Shortly later again, Guerrero dropped Pennington with a right, followed by a right on the chin. Another knockdown followed from a left hook to the chin, ending it. It was Pennington’s fifth loss in his last six fights.
Super Light Jhon ‘El Tigre’ Orobio (11-0, 10 KOs) stopped Joel ‘El Gallo’ Manriquez (6-6) at 2:54 of the second round of an 8 with a pair of knockdowns.
In the first round, Orobio had his way, mostly out-landing Manriquez. In the second round, Orobio landed a left to the body, dropping Manriquez for an 8-count from Referee Albert Padulo, Jr. Shortly later, again, Orobio dropped Manriquez with a flurry ending with a left on the chin and down went Manriquez for a second time.
Super Feather ‘The Future’ Avery Martin Duval (12-0-1, 7 KOs) defeated Jesus ‘Chechu’ Daneff (13-12-4, 4 KOs) over eight rounds.
In the first two rounds Daneff kept coming forward missing more than landing, Duval did just enough to win the rounds. In the third round, Daneff out-jabbed Duval, taking the round.
In the fourth round, Duval hurt Daneff’s shoulder and busted up his nose, causing blood all over Daneff’s face in the first minute. The fifth and sixth rounds were more of the same, with Duval having an edge.
In the seventh round’s minute ending, Duval landed a solid uppercut from a right rocking Daneff. In the eighth and final round, Duval, at times, turned Southpaw out, scoring Daneff.
Referee Martin Forest. Scores were 79-73, 80-72, and 80-71.
Super Middle 19-year-old Wilkens Mathieu (11-0, 7 KOs) stopped Rolando ‘Peligro’ Mansilla, 19-16-1, 9 KOs) at 1:41 of the fourth round of an 8, scoring a pair of knockdowns.
In the second round’s last twenty seconds, Mathieu hurt Mansilla with a left hook to the mid-section. In the third round, after a minute, Mathieu knocked Mansilla’s mouthpiece out.
For the second time in the fourth round, Referee Yvon Goulet warned Mathieu for a low blow. Halfway through the round, Mathieu dropped Mansilla with a right on the chin, and down he went for an 8-count.
Seconds later, a left to the body sent Mansilla down. Upon rising, referee Goulet wisely stopped the mismatch. Mansilla had lost six of his last seven fights.
Super Middle southpaw Moreno ‘The Soldier’ Fendero (7-0, 5 KOs) knocked out Carlos ‘La Furia’ Miguel Ronner (7-5, 2 KOs) at 0:30 of the third round of a scheduled 6.
In the first two rounds, Fendero outworked Ronner. In the third round, Ronner was backed into a corner with his hands held high when Fendero landed a thunderous lead left through his guard.
Down he went and out! Steve St-Germain didn’t need to count waving it off. As Ronner lay there, Fendero looked from his corner with concern, being a real sportsman. A neck brace was put on Ronner. He was eventually carried out of the ring.
