Once again blue-chip prospect Curmel “Big Deal” Moton looked extremely impressive as he stopped Nikolai Buzolin in the second round on Saturday night at the Honda Center in Anaheim, California.
The 18-year-old Moton set the tone immediately as he overwhelmed the 36-year-old Buzolin with controlled aggression. After Moton landed his initial shots, it was easy to see that Buzolin was on borrowed time.
On July 6th, two MMA rivals were ready to settle their differences inside of a boxing ring, as Nate Diaz was set to face Jorge Masvidal in the featured bout of the night. Curmel Moton was added to the undercard when he accepted his fight on two weeks notice.
Moton looked calm, cool, and collected as he walked to the ring with his mentor Floyd “Money” Mayweather. Once the bell rung to officially start the opening round, Moton came out using feints and throwing the jab.
In the final 30 seconds of the first round, Moton went into assault mode as he landed hard shots to the body and head of his opponent. With nine seconds to go in the opening round, Moton dropped Buzolin when he landed a left hand shot to the body.
In the second round, Curmel Moton used the same formula of executing his offense by attacking the body and then going upstairs. The Russian boxer Nikolai Buzolin looked extremely uncomfortable as he proceeded to go into survival mode.
Moton was relentless with the offensive attack, as he hit Buzolin with a barrage of punches. As Buzolin was trapped in the corner trying to protect himself, referee Jack Reiss stepped in and put a halt to the contest.
The 18-year-old Curmel Moton (4-0, 3 KOs) was dominant, as he showcased his skills and showed why he is labeled as one of the elite prospects in the fight game. Moton is the future of boxing, and during his post-fight interview he was asked about his plans for the immediate future.
“I’m going to get back in the gym and keep working you know, when they call for my name again, I’ll be here and I’ll put on another good performance.”
