At Petchanga Arena, San Diego, CA. Saturday over ESPN promoter Bob Arum (Top Rank) presented going for his fourth division title WBO World Super Featherweight champion Emanuel ‘Vaquero’ Navarrete lost a split and sloppy decision to 2012 Olympic Silver Medalist and WBO International champion Denys Berinchyk for the vacant WBO World Lightweight title.
In the Main Event WBO World Super Featherweight champ Emanuel ‘Vaquero’ Navarrete, 38-2-1 (31), #136, of San Juan Zitaltepec, Distrito Federal, MEX, lost by split decision to 2012 Olympic Silver Medalist, WBO No. 1 ranked and WBO Int’l champ Denys ‘The Thunder’ Berinchyk, 19-0 (9), #134.8, of Kiev, UKR, 12 rounds, for the vacant WBO World Lightweight title.
In the first round it was close with Berinchyk fighting southpaw having out landed Navarrete. In the second through the fourth round Navarrete came back to outwork and rock Berinchyk with left uppercut in the fourth round.
In the fifth and sixth rounds Navarrete won two close rounds. In the seventh and eighth rounds Berinchyk outworked Navarrete. In the ninth round Navarrete had a slight edge. In the tenth round Berinchyk out landed Navarrete.
In the eleventh round Berinchyk had a slight edge though warned by Referee Jack Reiss several times. In the twelfth and final round it was sloppy and close to the bell.
Scores 115-113 Berinchyk, 116-112 Navarrate and 116-112 Berinchyk. 114-114 KH.
Southpaw Giovani ‘Gallo de Oro’ Santillan, 32-1 (17), #146.4, of San Diego, CA, was stopped by WBO Welter International champ Brian ‘The Assassin ll’ Norman, Jr., 26-0-2nc (20), #146.5, of Conyers, GA, at 1:33 of the tenth round for the vacant WBO interim welterweight title, 12 rounds.
In an action first round Santillan had the edge. In the second round Santillan suffered a cut on his left eyelid. In the fourth round Santillan had Norman against the ropes for the most part.
In the fifth and sixth rounds more of the same with Norman doing too much holding being warned by Referee Ray Corona.
In the seventh round it was Norman coming back out working Santillan. In the eighth round Norman hurt Santillan in the final minute but Santillan managed to get to the end of the round.
In the ninth round Norman had Santillan all bloodied up. In the tenth round Norman dropped Santillan with a right uppercut as Referee Corona waved it off. Santillan was exhausted, cut on both eye areas and a bloody nose.
2020 Olympic Heavyweight Silver Medalist southpaw Richard Torrez, Jr., 10-0 (10), #229.9, of Tulare, CA, stopped NABF Junior heavy champ Brandon Moore, 14-1-1nd (8), #.229, of Lakeland, FL, at 1:39 of the fifth round of a scheduled 8 rounds.
In the first three rounds Torrez had an edge. In the fourth round both had their moments with Torrez on top.
In the fifth round of a wild swinging fight southpaw Torrez dropped Moore with a right hook for an 8-count from Referee Thomas Taylor. Torrez was all over him when the Thomas corner threw in the towel.
Local favorite Lightweight Jonny ‘Magic’ Mansour, 1-0 (0), #134, of San Diego, CA, defeated Anel Dudo, 3-5 (1), #130.8, of Sarajevo, Bosnia, over 4 rounds. All scores 40-36.
In the first two rounds Mansour outboxed Dudo while showboating. Dudo switched to southpaw on occasions. In the third and fourth rounds Mansour dominated but could not hurt Dudo who has never been stopped.

Featherweight Jonathan ‘La Roca’ Lopez, 15-0 (11), #127.1 of Orlando, FL, stopped Edgar ‘El ciclon’ Ortega, 14-2-2 (7), #127.6, of Mexicali, Baja California, at 2:39 of the 8th and final round.
Super Lightweight Emiliano ‘El General’ Vargas, 10-0 (8), #139.6, of Las Vegas, NV, Angel Varela, 10-2 (7), #140, of Auga Prieta, Sonora, MEX, at 1:01 of the 6th and final round.
In the first four round’s Vargas had the edge. In the fifth round Vargas had Varela bleeding from the nose. In the sixth and final round Referee Ray Corona saw enough and stopped it possibly prematurely.
